Migraine sufferers won’t let me lie when I say that migraine is one of the most excruciating headaches. Usually migraine sufferers put aside all daily activities to lie in bed with the lights off and preferably without noise.

Sometimes the pain intensifies for hours and the only thing that could alleviate it, according to science, would be to take a pain reliever to help you feel better. However, taking medicine frequently can harm or create other health problems. Fortunately, there are very effective natural home remedies to combat migraines.

  1. Take ginger

You just have to add a tablespoon of ground ginger to a cup of water and drink it. If you prefer, buy a whole piece to chew the root, you can even prepare a ginger tea, honey and a few drops of lemon. Take it as many times as you want and you will see that your discomfort will decrease notably.

To relieve a migraine, take a relaxing bath with drops of lavender, almond or argan oil. According to a clinical study, carried out by the School of Medicine of the University of Mashhad in Iran, the smell of the essences have analgesic effects helping to reduce headaches.

    5. Prohibited foods

Specialists recommend avoiding consuming some foods that accelerate blood circulation such as spicy foods (sauces), dairy products (cheese, milk, yogurt), cold cuts (sausages, ham) and coffee.

Salt strengthens the immune system by restoring the balance of electrolytes in the body and at the same time fighting migraine. In a glass of water, mix half a teaspoon of salt and the juice of half a lemon, and drink it twice a day.
